FAQ

How far will you travel?

Our primary servicing area is within Berks County.  However, Platinum Edge has traveled outside the area to provide service for other nearby areas.  Our traveling range has extended to places such as Philadelphia, Allentown, Harrisburg, State College, York, West Chester, and even as far out as the Jersey Shore.  No matter where your event is taking place, Platinum Edge will make sure to arrive promptly to get your party started.

How early should we book?

Simply put...the sooner, the better! Some of the most popular dates can be booked as early as one year in advance. We suggest being prepared to sign a contract as early as 8-12 months before. Depending on availability, some dates remain open until the month before. So, if you're planning an event next month, it's worth checking our availability. If you're starting your planning, make your final decision as soon as possible to ensure our availability.

We do not hold dates as per our policy. However, depending on the circumstances, a date can be reserved for 24 hours without a contract and/or deposit submitted. If an agreement has been created and sent to the customer, they have 15 days to make a deposit; otherwise, the date will become open to the public.

Should we feed the DJ?

One of our most popular questions! With setup and teardown, we'll often be at your event for nearly eight hours. We ask that your entertainer (s) be provided with sustenance for any event that totals five hours or more.

Is tipping/gratuity expected for the DJ?

By no means is tipping/gratuity mandatory or expected. We charge a professional rate for a professional service. This means you won't see a tip jar on our table. If you feel the DJ has surpassed your expectations, and you want to tip him at the end of the night, we will accept it as the utmost compliment. But you're under no obligation to do so.

Do you offer a contract or written agreement?

Absolutely. Our contract is straightforward and written in plain English so that you can understand the terms before signing. Both parties sign it, and it offers you a high level of protection and dependability. With the contract, you can be assured that there will be no hidden extra charges or surprises at your event. The signed contract and deposit officially reserve your date, and of course, an executed copy will be sent to you for your records. If you have any questions or concerns about the terms, ask!

If the DJ does not require a written contract, DO NOT book the individual’s service!

Can we meet the DJ who will be performing at our event?

This is a very understandable concern. We, too, have heard horror stories from people who went to see a particular DJ and then got a completely different and horrible DJ at their event. Fortunately, when we pick up the phone, you speak directly to a highly skilled entertainer who will continue to serve and entertain you throughout your business with us.  So you never have to worry about getting "the new guy" or the "DJ in training."  Individuals who prefer to meet their DJ before booking their event may set up a time to sit down, ask any concerns, and become more comfortable with their DJ.

Is setup time included in your price?

No.  With Platinum Edge, you never have to worry about a setup fee.  All of our event packages are based strictly on entertainment time.  Typically, we arrive anywhere from an hour to 3 hours before your event before your guests begin to arrive.  Setup and teardown time are on us.

Can we choose the music to be played at our event?

You'll be unbelievably amazed at our flexibility regarding music selection! Over the years, we've learned that keeping the dance floor packed is influenced by many factors, including the order and style in which the songs are played, the way songs are mixed, and DJ interaction—not just which songs are played.

We've had clients who chose every song for the event and others who left the music selection entirely up to us. To ensure all your favorite songs are played, we highly recommend a supplemental list that includes songs you’d like to hear and songs you would not want to hear.

What if we want a song you do not have?

The days of hearing a DJ say he/she does not have a particular song is a thing of the past. Thanks to today's technology, we can access most songs as soon as requested. Although our music library consists of 10,000+ song titles from the 1930s to the present, it is difficult to carry every song ever released due to the number of songs released daily.  We encourage our customers to supply supplemental lists stating the song(s) they want to hear beforehand so we can create a playlist you and your guests will enjoy.

Keep in mind that some songs heard through social media or on the radio may not be available or released, so we can not guarantee every song requested, but we will do our best to accommodate. As for wedding receptions, we guarantee all your formal activity song selections for your event.

Do you take requests during the event?

To ensure your guests are happy and on the dance floor, we cover every angle when supplying you and your guests with music requests. Platinum Edge allows your guests to request their favorite songs using a web-based service on their cell phones called Ask the DJ. Submit your request from anywhere at the event, and it instantly appears on the DJ's monitor. Alternatively, when your guests arrive at their seats for your event, a Platinum Edge entertainer will go around to each table handing out request slips so that guests can input the type of music they want to hear.   Your guests may also come up to the DJ area with their requests throughout the event.

How loud do you play the music?

One of the most significant complaints of bands and DJs is that they play the music too loud. It doesn't have to be that way! During cocktail and dinner hours (if applicable), the speakers will be strategically positioned for even sound coverage throughout the banquet room at a comfortable level. When it's time to dance, the speakers will be repositioned for maximum sound coverage on the dance floor and minimum sound exposure throughout the rest of the banquet room. This means that on the dance floor, the music will be very comfortable yet powerful enough for dancing. The music will be less predominant throughout the room, and your guests can converse generally without screaming!

How interactive are your DJs?

A very familiar question! Often, when a client is looking for the perfect DJ, they search for one who fits the level of interaction they're looking for, whether conservative or outgoing. We let you decide how much interaction you would like. We can be conservative, outgoing, or anywhere in between. By default, we're only as interactive as necessary to keep your guests having a good time on the dance floor. You'll never hear one of our DJs yelling, screaming, or singing over the microphone. Even at our most outgoing level, we remain professional and never steal the spotlight!
